Spring on the French Riviera – the Mediterranean, mountains, winding roads and Monaco. Over four days, we will combine the Côte d’Azur coastline with spectacular mountain roads, and on one cycling day we can even visit three countries – France, Monaco and Italy.

We will stay at one hotel in Nice and each day choose the route best suited to the weather and the group. On one day, we will ride towards Monaco and Italy, on another we will climb into the Côte d’Azur mountains and winding roads, while another day can be spent enjoying a more relaxed ride along the Mediterranean coast towards Nice, Antibes and Cannes.

The special highlight of the trip – Monaco
We will ride to Monaco, cycle along the legendary Formula 1 street circuit and continue all the way to Italy. In a single day, we will cycle through France, Monaco and Italy.

During this four-day trip, we will have three days to explore the French Riviera by bike,
experiencing very different landscapes and routes.
In one direction, we will find mountains, winding roads and climbs above Monaco,
while in the other direction we can enjoy almost flat coastal roads towards Nice, Antibes and Cannes.

We will plan to ride approximately 60–100 km per day.
The routes can be adapted to the group’s preferences and weather conditions –
from relaxed rides along the Mediterranean coast to a proper mountain day featuring
Col d’Èze and other Côte d’Azur climbs.

We will stay at the same hotel for all three nights, so there will be no need to carry luggage on our bikes
and each day we can ride with only what we need for the day.


This trip is more about enjoying the ride – one day we can challenge ourselves in the mountains,
and the next take it easier while cycling along the Mediterranean coast.

Weather

By late April, the French Riviera is already enjoying
warm and sunny spring weather.
The landscape is green, the days are getting longer and the Mediterranean coast is already beginning to feel like summer.

Around Nice and Monaco, daytime temperatures are usually around
+17 to +22 °C, although sunny days can be even warmer.

It is an excellent time for cycling –
pleasantly warm, but without the intense heat of summer.

What kind of roads will we ride?

The French Riviera is a fantastic cycling destination because one trip can combine both
relaxed coastal roads and proper mountain climbs.

In one direction, we will follow the Mediterranean coast towards Nice, Antibes and Cannes,
while on other days we will head towards Monaco and the mountains on spectacular winding roads.

The routes will be on paved roads, so the most suitable choice will be a
road bike or a fast gravel bike.

Trip itinerary

23 April
Riga – Nice
14:00 – meet at Riga Airport.
15:45–17:50 direct airBaltic flight Riga – Nice
From the airport, it is approximately a 5-minute walk to the Radisson hotel.
We assemble our bikes, settle into the hotel and can head into Nice in the evening.

24–25 April
Nice – Monaco
We will ride two spectacular cycling routes through the
French Riviera and Monaco area.
On one of the days, we will head towards Monaco,
where we can ride the legendary Formula 1 Monaco street circuit,
continue towards Italy and visit
three countries by bike in a single day – France, Monaco and Italy.
On the other day, we can head into the mountains and experience
Côte d’Azur climbs and winding mountain roads,
with panoramic views over the Mediterranean.

26 April
Nice – Riga
We will still have almost a full day to ride our third route along the French Riviera.
In the afternoon, we will pack our bikes and leave the hotel for the airport at
16:00.

Accommodation

We will spend all three nights at the
Radisson Hotel Nice Airport,
located right next to Nice Airport.

It will be a convenient base for our rides –
in one direction we can follow the Mediterranean coast towards Antibes and Cannes,
while in the other direction we can ride through Nice towards Monaco and the mountains.

We will stay in comfortable twin/double rooms,
with a generous hotel breakfast available every morning.

Meals

A generous breakfast is served at the hotel.
For dinner, we can choose from restaurants in the surrounding area,
while during our rides we will stop at cafés, restaurants or shops.

Cycling group

We will travel in a small group of 7 travellers.
The trip will be organised and led by Krišjānis Ratiniks (Velomens).

Tour leader

The trip will be organised and led by Krišjānis Ratiniks – Velomens,
an experienced cyclist, traveller and active travel organiser.

Krišjānis has travelled to 67 countries around the world and has been
organising and leading Velomens cycling tours in destinations around the world since 2019.
