How difficult will it be?
The Gran Canaria cycling trip will last 7 days, during which we will have the opportunity to complete unique routes. Each participant can choose their preferred distance, ranging from 40 to 100 km. Group riding is not mandatory; anyone who enjoys cycling can join, regardless of how much or how little they want to ride. Keep in mind that the terrain is very mountainous, making the ride both more challenging and more beautiful.
We’ll spend all nights in one place, so there’s no need to worry about the number of kilometers cycled or the amount of luggage carried.
In Gran Canaria, it’s also possible to take several days off cycling to go on excursions, hikes, or explore the island using public transport.
The difficulty level of the trip is designed for relaxed riders.
Weather Conditions
The Canary Islands, especially the southern part of Gran Canaria, have an eternal summer, which means December is the peak tourism season with air temperatures around +25°C. On trips to the northern side of the island, expect slightly cooler temperatures of around +20°C and the possibility of rain. On one of the days, we’ll aim to climb the island’s highest peak, reaching 1950 meters in altitude, where the weather is cooler, so be prepared with an additional warm layer.
Roads
We will cycle along beautiful roads with primarily low traffic. The highways and smaller roads have excellent asphalt quality. In Spain, and particularly in the Canary Islands, cyclists are treated like royalty – drivers are respectful and aware of them. Spain is considered (and rightly so!) one of the safest countries for cycling.
