Description

How challenging is the trip?
DIFFICULTY LEVEL
● ● ● ○ ○
3 / 5

A comfortable trip with a good hotel, an experienced tour leader and transport between the most beautiful locations in a rented minibus.
However, every day will also include hikes of several kilometres, and the typical Faroe Islands weather – especially the wind – can add an extra challenge.

This trip is suitable for people who appreciate comfort but are also prepared to hike at least 10 km across mountainous terrain to reach some of the most spectacular locations.

Your main luggage will stay at the hotel – you will only need a small daypack for the daily hikes.

In spring, the tour leader will offer the group an opportunity to meet beforehand and go on a two-hour hike in the Sigulda area to assess fitness levels and test equipment.

Weather

May is a special time in the Faroe Islands – nature comes to life, the islands turn vibrant green and the days become long.
Temperatures are usually around 8–12 °C, occasionally reaching up to 15 °C.

Patches of snow may still be visible in the mountains, creating a spectacular contrast with the ocean and green slopes.
Daylight approaches 18 hours, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors.

The Faroe Islands are famous for their changeable weather – sunshine, rain and strong winds can all occur within the same day.
This unpredictability is part of the unique character of the islands.

Tour leader

The Faroe Islands hiking trip will be led by Reinis Nartišs – an experienced hiking guide and true adventurer,
who already led a Velomens group trip to the Faroe Islands in 2026.

Reinis has led hikes on nature trails in Latvia and gained experience in the Caucasus Mountains, the Alps and Gran Canaria.
He is energetic, knowledgeable and a great conversationalist who knows how to create a friendly atmosphere within the group and adapt to different travellers.

Reinis has also successfully competed in amateur rallies, so we can confidently trust him behind the wheel of our 9-seater minibus on the winding roads of the Faroe Islands.
